Rota das Amendoeiras (Almond trees route) is a service provided by CP, national train company, that will take along the amazing landscapes of Alto Douro and Trás-os-Montes regions.

CP, the Portuguese national train company, invites you to discover the breathtaking view of the awakening of the spring, offering you the possibility to travel around the incredible Alto Douro and Trás-os-Montes regions during the blooming of the almond trees.

In fact, Rota das Amendoeiras (Almond Blossom route), CP’s oldest touristic route, gives you the chance to travel along unique trails where history and tradition walk hand-in-hand with the beauty of the landscapes. This route provides you also with the opportunity to enjoy the cultural and gastronomic heritage of some of the most beautiful towns and villages of Portugal.
Every Saturday of March (3rd, 10th, 17th and 24th) a special train will take you from Porto-Campanhã train station to Pocinho train station and back. From Pocinho you may choose one of the three alternative bus routes at your disposal.

Route A

Starting from Pocinho train station this route will take you to Côa Museum for a cultural visit, Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo for lunch followed by a cultural tour at Castelo Rodrigo. Then you may freely enjoy the beauty of Barca d’Alva along with the amazing landscape of Penedo Durão and Freixo de Espada à Cinta. Finally, you will return to Pocinho.

Route B

This route will take you to Freixo de Numão and Penedono on your way to lunch at Trancoso. In the afternoon it is time to discover the bucolic way of life at the historical village of Marialva. On your way back to Pocinho there will be time to discover all the wonders of Meda, Longroiva and Vila Nova de Foz Côa.

Route C

This route offers you a magnificente lunch at Alfândega da Fé, followed by the incredible view from Cerejais. Then it is time to discover all that Mogadouro and Torre de Moncorvo have at your disposal before returning to Pocinho.

Tickets are non-refundable and non-rescheduled.
The program is subject to a minimum number of participants.
There are no reserved seats on the buses.
