New Year’s Eve in Lisbon - All About Portugal
New Year’s Eve in Lisbon is an unforgettable experience no matter if you spend it in an hotel night club, disco or even in an open air party.
Are you looking for an unforgettable way to say goodbye to 2011 and to welcome 2012? Then how about spending New Year’s Eve in Lisbon? Besides the fantastic programs offered by the many Lisbon hotels and night clubs, there are other less expensive open air alternatives, which may be fully enjoyed as the weather forecast predicts no rain and the expected low temperatures may be fought with some champagne and the friendly ambience that characterizes the major Portuguese city.
Some options for your New Year’s Eve in Lisbon
In the heart of the city, at Avenida da Liberdade – the main Avenue that goes from the iconic square Marquês de Pombal until Restauradores, near Rossio – the five existing kiosks promise you lots of fun starting on December 31, at 9 p.m. with several DJs, stand-up comedy and the best chocolate cake in the world. The countdown will happen on an electronic panel installed in the street.
At Parque das Nações, a charming area of the city just by the Tagus River, on the same site where it was held the 1998 Lisbon World Exposition, devoted to the protection of the Seas, the highlight is going to be the impressive fireworks show “Fusão” (Fusion) that will bring you emotion, color and magic at midnight and for about 10 minutes.
Pátio da Galé, an amazing space at Terreiro do Paço, the square considered by many the living room of the Portuguese capital, organizes a party under the theme Lisbon Studio 54. This disco party is inspired by the legendary New Yorker Studio 54 and is going to be animated by the internationally famed DJ Nicky Siano.
No matter your choice, fun is guaranteed even if you are alone; after all don’t forget that we the Portuguese are experts in making everyone feel at home.
I wish you a Happy New Year!
