Lisboa Story Centre a unique experience
Lisboa Story Centre is located in Praça do Comércio. Praça do Comércio is an imperial square by Tagus River.This interpretive centre uses modern multimedia technology to take visitors on a journey into the past. The historical accuracy is another highlight of the space.
For an hour visitors go through a dozen rooms. Each one represents several crucial historical moments of Lisbon since its foundation to modern days. The visit is accompanied by audio guides. These are available in different languages. There is also an audio guide with adapted text for children. Thus everyone may fully understand the exhibit.
Visiting Lisboa Story Centre is a memorable experience. On the room simulating an old medieval warehouse visitors are overwhelmed by the smells of the spices brought back by the Portuguese from their adventures during the maritime expansion.
The star character of the Lisboa Story Centre is the Marquis of Pombal. He was the Prime Minister responsible for rebuilding Lisbon after the 1755 earthquake. It is the perfect opportunity to learn more about this fascinating man and his work.

The 1755 earthquake is the major highlight of the Lisbon Story Centre. And there is a good reason for it. The earthquake was followed by a tsunami. Both devastated the lower parts of the city. Thousands of lives were lost. But the city rose from the ruins. Lisbon became more magnificent than before. On a special room, visitors watch an eight-minute film. The film recreats the day Lisbon was destroyed. Let me tell that this film will literally shake you up!
Lisbon Story Centre is open every day from 10 am until 20 pm. Last entry is at 7 pm.
