Ballooning in Portugal, an unforgettable experience

Ballooning in Portugal, an unforgettable experience
Clara Campos

Ballooning in Portugal is going to be an unforgettable experience that will allow you to discover Portugal from a totally new perspective.

As a child, after reading Around the World in Eighty Days from Jules Verne, I wanted to cross the skies like Phileas Foog in a balloon, living exciting adventures just like this famous character did. Unfortunately as I grew older I realize I am afraid from highs so I put that childhood phantasy aside and nowadays I prefer to keep both feet securely on the ground.

However, if you are not like me and are more of the adventurous type, I suggest you a tour through the Portuguese skies on a hot air balloon.

Ballooning in Portugal means flying downwind, surrounded by an absolute silence that fills you with an indescribable peace, while discovering contrasting landscapes, from a totally new perspective. Up north you will see mountains covered by green forest, crossed by rivers winding their way downhill, sometimes creating refreshing waterfalls. Medieval towns and small rural villages emerge from the ground almost unchanged by time.

The fertile marshlands of Ribatejo, where horses and bulls run freely, show all its plenitude when seen from above. Down south you will be amazed by the immensity of the Alentejo plains, painted with the golden colors of the never ending wheat fields. Further south, at the Algarve let yourself be dazzled by the beauty of the beaches where the white sand meets the transparent waters of the Atlantic Ocean.

So that you can enjoy all this beauty, Portuguese ballooning companies offer you several tour options, suitable for every occasion and for every pocket. Alone, with friends, family or with your better half, I am sure there is the right tour for you.

Ballooning in Portugal is also a safe choice. Portuguese ballooning companies are certified and their pilots have many flying hours both in Portugal as abroad.

I just wish I had the courage to follow my own suggestion!
